The transition from Magician
Cleric is a level-30 Magician branch reached through Grendel the Really Old’s advancement quest. Heal supports nearby party members and can damage undead enemies; Invincible and Bless are part of the support kit. The community class page is still labelled pre-launch, so verify the live rank descriptions.
Choose Cleric because you like reacting to a group’s positioning and health, not because a guide promises free leveling. A support kit still needs a sensible route, an MP reserve and teammates who remain within reach. Keep a usable attack for enemies that are not suitable Heal targets.

Spend toward the next useful party role
| Your situation | Priority to evaluate | Test before the next spend |
|---|---|---|
| Mostly undead training | Develop Heal after its live prerequisites | Does it hit the intended enemy, and does the route sustain your MP? |
| Learning party runs | Reliable healing and personal survival | Can you keep yourself safe while reaching the group? |
| Stable group | Review Bless and other support options | Do teammates benefit often enough to justify this investment now? |
| Too much travel | Evaluate available mobility | Does movement save real time on your actual map? |
Prove that an undead route is better
Use Jr. Wraith or another verified undead candidate as a starting point for a test, rather than assuming all dark-looking monsters are undead. Check the monster entry and the live damage result. A spell having the correct target type does not make every map containing that target efficient.
Measure ten minutes including ladders, gathering enemies, looting and recovery. Then compare a familiar route using your normal attack. Repeat if another player occupied the platform for most of one test. The comparison tool can estimate an hourly rate, but the inputs are yours and the result is not a guaranteed server rate.
- Keep the same buffs and recovery rules in both runs.
- Record HP and MP spending separately if it helps explain the result.
- Retest after a meaningful skill improvement instead of extrapolating forever.

Position yourself before the health bars drop
Agree on where the group will stand during dangerous fights. Keep an escape route and watch your own resources; a healer who has exhausted their MP cannot rescue the next mistake. Tell the party before you stop to recover.
After a failed run, identify the immediate cause: someone out of reach, delayed recovery, a missed mechanic, or insufficient resources. Fix the behavior that caused the failure before spending points simply because there are points available. A small positioning change is often easier to test than rebuilding a character.
Healing is not the same as zero expenses
Count the MP items you consume, any recovery downtime, and the cost of getting to the map. If a teammate provides a benefit, record that condition with the result so you do not expect the same rate solo.
Save enough mesos for the next normal session before buying equipment. Keep ordinary income separate from a lucky scroll or rare item. In the budget calculator, a hypothetical sale is only a scenario until it actually sells. Use the lower, repeatable result to decide whether a new route is sustainable.
AP allocation: a practical next-level plan
Use INT as your main stat and check the requirements on a wand or staff. LUK is a common secondary-stat constraint, not a universal fixed ratio. Check every requirement on the actual item before spending.
The five-point example below is arithmetic, not a claim that a particular item has these requirements. Count only equipment bonuses you will still have after changing gear; do not depend on a temporary buff without checking the live equip rules.
| Situation | Example allocation | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Requirements already met | 5 INT | If the next usable item’s requirements are met, put the example level’s points into the main stat. |
| Example: 2 LUK short | 2 LUK + 3 INT | Cover the verified shortfall first, then use the remaining points on your main stat. |
| More than 5 points short | Up to 5 LUK, 0 INT in this example | Recheck the item and budget; bridge the remainder over later levels or keep your current gear. |
| Frequent misses | Recheck accuracy before committing permanent points | Test weaker targets and gear options; an equipment requirement is not the only concern. |

SP allocation and skill priority
Follow these priorities in order as the relevant skills unlock. A suggested first point is conditional on having an available point in the correct job pool and meeting the current client’s prerequisites; it does not mean every skill is immediately unlocked.
The order is an editorial starting plan, not a tested optimal level-by-level build. Check ranks, costs and the live skill window before each permanent allocation.
| Priority | Suggested allocation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Core support | Take Heal 1 when available, then develop it for your route | Balance party recovery with MP and target selection. |
| Buff route | Check Heal 5 → Invincible 5 → Bless against the live skill window | Plan the prerequisite chain before committing points. |
| Damage and movement | Evaluate Holy Arrow and Teleport when available | Use a damage option where your Heal loop does not suit. |

First-week route: early to mid game
These are progression stages, not a promise that every player reaches a given level within one week. Use the first-week and leveling guides for route and session-planning details.
| Stage | What to do | Check before moving on |
|---|---|---|
| Levels 1–10 | Finish the beginner route and travel to your branch instructor. | Check the current advancement requirements in the client. |
| Levels 10–29 | Use the Magician foundation and advance at level 30 with an MP reserve. | Compare nearby fields with mushroom or boar routes and, if eligible, KPQ from level 21. |
| Levels 30–39 | After advancing, test Heal with your party and against appropriate undead targets. | Read the second-job guide and recheck the skill prerequisites. |
| Levels 40–70 | Retest a familiar Victoria Island route against tougher local targets as your skills improve. | Compare attacks per kill, travel and recovery over a full session before moving. |

Gear and spending checkpoints
| Checkpoint | Action | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Keep a usable wand or staff and MP supplies; healing does not guarantee zero costs. | Choose an obtainable upgrade that matches your actual skills. |
| Requirements | Check all stats, level and usable equipment bonuses on the target item. | A higher listed attack is irrelevant if you cannot equip it. |
| Session budget | Keep recovery and any ammunition or throwing stars for a full run. | Compare session cost and uptime, not an unverified market price. |
