Claw or dagger is the first real decision
The Thief first-job reference supports claws with throwing stars or daggers. LUK is the main stat; Dark Lord in Kerning City handles advancement at level 10. At level 30 the choices are Assassin and Bandit.
Choose the attack style you enjoy before buying a stack of upgrades. Claw play asks you to manage range and ammunition; dagger play asks you to stay close and control contact damage. Neither a borrowed funded build nor a ranking alone tells you which loop you will sustain.

Make the stat plan fit your gear
Check the actual requirements of your next weapon and armor before spending AP. Keep permanent stats separate from bonuses that disappear when replacing equipment. If one piece enables another, verify that replacing the first piece does not break the second.
Treat pure-stat builds as an equipment-dependent choice. Without the enabling gear, following a slogan can leave an upgrade unusable. Keep a short written plan: next weapon, requirement gap, purchase budget, remaining potion budget. Revise the plan when a real drop changes your options.
Two first-job priority routes
| Path | Start | Then evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| Claw | Lucky Seven as the main attack | Nimble Body 3 unlocks Keen Eyes; buy range only when it helps your route. |
| Dagger | Double Stab as the main attack | Nimble Body and situational utility after a dependable attack. |
| Utility | Disorder 3 unlocks Dark Sight | Read what you can and cannot do while hidden in the live client. |
| Either | Finish one coherent attack plan | Splitting early points between both weapons delays the strength of each. |

Account for the whole trip
For claw training, count ammunition management and town time along with potion spending. For dagger training, count the extra healing caused by close contact. These costs change which map is sustainable. Enter them in the economy tool as costs, even if the character also found a valuable drop.
A rare sale can fund upgrades, but it cannot establish the normal profit of a route. Compare three ordinary sessions and keep the exceptional drop on a separate line. Stop and resupply before accepting a party run if the next fight would depend on someone lending you items.
- Reserve consumables before shopping for a better weapon.
- Keep space for quest items and party-quest drops.
- Compare equal-duration sessions with the same looting policy.
Useful party habits before level 30
In KPQ, communicate whether you are still learning the coupon or combination stages. Hold your assigned position while the leader checks a puzzle. After combat, account for passes before moving on. These habits often save more time than one extra equipment upgrade.
At advancement, compare Assassin’s ranged loop with Bandit’s melee loop in the live skill window. Use the weapon path you already enjoyed as evidence. Do not choose for an unreleased third-job skill. Save your first-job training baseline so you can measure the effect of the next job.
AP allocation: a practical next-level plan
Use LUK as your main stat and check the requirements on a claw or dagger. DEX is a common secondary-stat constraint, not a universal fixed ratio. Check every requirement on the actual item before spending.
The five-point example below is arithmetic, not a claim that a particular item has these requirements. Count only equipment bonuses you will still have after changing gear; do not depend on a temporary buff without checking the live equip rules.
| Situation | Example allocation | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Requirements already met | 5 LUK | If the next usable item’s requirements are met, put the example level’s points into the main stat. |
| Example: 2 DEX short | 2 DEX + 3 LUK | Cover the verified shortfall first, then use the remaining points on your main stat. |
| More than 5 points short | Up to 5 DEX, 0 LUK in this example | Recheck the item and budget; bridge the remainder over later levels or keep your current gear. |
| Frequent misses | Recheck accuracy before committing permanent points | Test weaker targets and gear options; an equipment requirement is not the only concern. |

SP allocation and skill priority
Follow these priorities in order as the relevant skills unlock. A suggested first point is conditional on having an available point in the correct job pool and meeting the current client’s prerequisites; it does not mean every skill is immediately unlocked.
The order is an editorial starting plan, not a tested optimal level-by-level build. Check ranks, costs and the live skill window before each permanent allocation.
| Priority | Suggested allocation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Choose a weapon | Claw: Lucky Seven 1; dagger: Double Stab 1 when available | Develop the attack matching your chosen weapon. |
| Claw range | For claws, Nimble Body 3, then Keen Eyes when unlocked | Keen Eyes is for throwing range; do not assume a dagger needs it. |
| Survival | Consider Nimble Body and recovery as the route demands | Watch misses and consumables. |

First-week route: early to mid game
These are progression stages, not a promise that every player reaches a given level within one week. Use the first-week and leveling guides for route and session-planning details.
| Stage | What to do | Check before moving on |
|---|---|---|
| Levels 1–10 | Finish the beginner route and travel to your branch instructor. | Check the current advancement requirements in the client. |
| Levels 10–29 | After advancement, try the claw and dagger routines on survivable targets. | Compare nearby fields with mushroom or boar routes and, if eligible, KPQ from level 21. |
| Level 30 decision | Pick a weapon route and prepare Assassin or Bandit; budget stars or close-range recovery. | Read the second-job guide and recheck the skill prerequisites. |

Gear and spending checkpoints
| Checkpoint | Action | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Check actual claw or dagger requirements; keep throwing stars if using a claw. | Choose an obtainable upgrade that matches your actual skills. |
| Requirements | Check all stats, level and usable equipment bonuses on the target item. | A higher listed attack is irrelevant if you cannot equip it. |
| Session budget | Keep recovery and any ammunition or throwing stars for a full run. | Compare session cost and uptime, not an unverified market price. |
