Build around a clean firing lane

Bowman rewards knowing where the next enemy will approach. Choose platforms with room to move away from contact, and rehearse the path back to your firing position. A route that looks efficient on a monster table can feel awkward if you keep getting boxed in.

Before judging the class, compare two layouts using the same weapon. Count interruptions as part of the run. The number of clean attacks you fit between repositioning matters more than an isolated damage screenshot. For a first character, use an affordable bow or crossbow that leaves you enough mesos for arrows and recovery.

DEX, requirements and ammunition

Advance at level 10 with Athena Pierce in Henesys. DEX is the main stat. Bows and crossbows use their corresponding ammunition. At level 30, choose Hunter or Crossbowman.

  • Read the exact stat requirement on your intended weapon. Do not apply an old STR formula without checking it.
  • Keep the correct arrow type in the inventory before leaving town.
  • Measure an equipment change on the same route. A more expensive weapon does not fix an awkward platform layout.
  • Plan a resupply stop near the end of a quest cluster so it serves two purposes.

A practical ranged training loop

Start at one end of a platform, clear toward the other, loot on the return, and leave before enemies surround you. Keep your test consistent: if one run includes extensive looting and the other does not, their EXP rates are not comparable.

Use the EXP comparison tool to include time lost to ammunition or potion trips. If the same trip happens every ten minutes, it belongs in the hourly estimate. Try a different route before assuming you need a larger gear budget.

  • In a party, agree on which side each player covers.
  • Before KPQ, check arrows and make room for coupons and passes.
  • If a jump or ladder repeatedly breaks the loop, reduce the route to a smaller area.

Hunter or Crossbowman?

Hunter’s branch includes Arrow Bomb; Crossbowman’s includes Iron Arrow. Think about whether your preferred maps let you gather enemies around a target or line them up. Examine the live skill descriptions before choosing, because skill behavior can differ from legacy guides.

  • Compare the weapons you can afford now, not a hypothetical perfect weapon.
  • Check the live prerequisites before dividing second-job SP.
  • Repeat your training benchmark after unlocking the branch’s main attack.
  • Avoid buying both weapon paths while still deciding. Keep a reserve for the path you choose.

AP allocation: a practical next-level plan

Use DEX as your main stat and check the requirements on a bow or crossbow. STR is a common secondary-stat constraint, not a universal fixed ratio. Check every requirement on the actual item before spending.

The five-point example below is arithmetic, not a claim that a particular item has these requirements. Count only equipment bonuses you will still have after changing gear; do not depend on a temporary buff without checking the live equip rules.

SituationExample allocationDecision
Requirements already met5 DEXIf the next usable item’s requirements are met, put the example level’s points into the main stat.
Example: 2 STR short2 STR + 3 DEXCover the verified shortfall first, then use the remaining points on your main stat.
More than 5 points shortUp to 5 STR, 0 DEX in this exampleRecheck the item and budget; bridge the remainder over later levels or keep your current gear.
Frequent missesRecheck accuracy before committing permanent pointsTest weaker targets and gear options; an equipment requirement is not the only concern.
This is an equipment-driven editorial example, not a fixed ratio, reset guarantee, or recommendation to spend permanently on an unverified item.

SP allocation and skill priority

Follow these priorities in order as the relevant skills unlock. A suggested first point is conditional on having an available point in the correct job pool and meeting the current client’s prerequisites; it does not mean every skill is immediately unlocked.

The order is an editorial starting plan, not a tested optimal level-by-level build. Check ranks, costs and the live skill window before each permanent allocation.

First-week route: early to mid game

These are progression stages, not a promise that every player reaches a given level within one week. Use the first-week and leveling guides for route and session-planning details.

StageWhat to doCheck before moving on
Levels 1–10Finish the beginner route and travel to your branch instructor.Check the current advancement requirements in the client.
Levels 10–29After advancement, find an uncrowded platform with room for a firing lane.Compare nearby fields with mushroom or boar routes and, if eligible, KPQ from level 21.
Level 30 decisionPractice retreating and restocking; choose Hunter or Crossbowman around your intended weapon.Read the second-job guide and recheck the skill prerequisites.
