Groups and party attack support. Straightforward loop; contact positioning.

Editorial review: 2026-10-28. Official release announcements take precedence. Community sources can lag the live client. Source review is not in-game testing. Class tiers, build priorities and planning methods are editorial advice, not measured optimal builds or guaranteed leveling rates.

## At a glance

## Who should choose Fighter?

Choose Fighter when you want a repeatable close-range training loop and an attack buff that can help your usual party. Its solo S placement assumes compact packs, enough accuracy and time spent actually hitting. Scattered targets and repeated contact damage can remove that practical advantage.

This is an independent editorial plan for Global Grand Launch. The source kit was reviewed on October 23; the build plan was reviewed on October 28. We have not collected controlled live-server DPS, boss-clear or cost-per-level results.

- [MapleStory Quest: launch class roster](https://maplestory.quest/classes): Checked 23 October 2026. Community client-data reference separates ten launch second jobs from historical CoT2 third jobs; it does not provide our tier placements.

## AP: make the weapon decision visible

Start with the Warrior foundation and the AP/SP guide linked below. Write down the requirements of an attainable weapon before spending permanent points. Compare your character with temporary buffs and equipment bonuses identified; do not count a bonus twice.

Funding pressure for this path: weapon and contact recovery. Keep enough resources for a normal training session after the upgrade. If accuracy or survival is the real bottleneck, a more expensive weapon alone may not solve it.

## SP: inspect prerequisites before following priorities

The items below explain skill roles, not an invented point-by-point allocation. Open the live skill window, confirm prerequisites and the points available in the correct job pool, and then decide which skill changes your next route. Beta and historical third-job instructions are not a safe substitute.

- Rage: evaluate its value for the party you actually have.

- Rush: use it to shorten movement between nearby packs.

- Choose the weapon line before distributing weapon-specific points.

- [MapleStory Quest: Grand Launch skill diff](https://maplestory.quest/changelog?s=skills): Grand Launch view checked 23 October 2026: twelve revised skills, including recovery, Final Attack duration and Dark Sight prerequisites. The default view may advance after future updates.

## Training: test the ordinary loop

Compare two compact routes with the same recovery stock. Count attacks per pack, walking time and interruptions, not just the largest damage number.

Keep the test small enough to repeat. Record starting and ending EXP, movement, recovery stock and any waiting. Use the leveling calculator for arithmetic, with your own inputs. A quiet channel or one rare drop can make a single run misleading; repeat before calling a route better.

## Party value and single-target limits

The party role to discuss is rage. Ask what the group already has and which encounter you are preparing for. A duplicate buff is not automatically as useful as filling an absent role.

For a single target, compare practical time spent attacking with time spent avoiding, repositioning or recovering. The tier list’s single-target column is directional and assumes usable equipment; it does not establish which character clears a real boss faster.

- [NiaMeowDB: level-70 class comparison](https://meowdb.com/msclassic/tier-list): Checked 23 October 2026. Model of saved level-70 builds, neutral zero-defense target by default. No overall rank; map travel and actual potion use are excluded. Directional context, not our own live gameplay measurements.

## Before the next permanent decision

Keep the current client tooltip as the final check for exact skill values and prerequisites. If it conflicts with the dated community reference, preserve the discrepancy and use the current game state. Do not spend points in anticipation of an unconfirmed future job.

Use the class comparison to understand the tradeoff you are accepting, the tier list for the relevant task and the AP/SP guide for allocation checks. A working routine is a better reason to continue than a letter is a reason to reroll.

## AP allocation: a practical next-level plan

Use STR as your main stat and check the requirements on a sword or axe. DEX is a common secondary-stat constraint, not a universal fixed ratio. Check every requirement on the actual item before spending.

The five-point example below is arithmetic, not a claim that a particular item has these requirements. Count only equipment bonuses you will still have after changing gear; do not depend on a temporary buff without checking the live equip rules.

| Situation | Example allocation | Decision |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Requirements already met | 5 STR | If the next usable item’s requirements are met, put the example level’s points into the main stat. |
| Example: 2 DEX short | 2 DEX + 3 STR | Cover the verified shortfall first, then use the remaining points on your main stat. |
| More than 5 points short | Up to 5 DEX, 0 STR in this example | Recheck the item and budget; bridge the remainder over later levels or keep your current gear. |
| Frequent misses | Recheck accuracy before committing permanent points | Test weaker targets and gear options; an equipment requirement is not the only concern. |

> This is an equipment-driven editorial example, not a fixed ratio, reset guarantee, or recommendation to spend permanently on an unverified item.

## SP allocation and skill priority

Follow these priorities in order as the relevant skills unlock. A suggested first point is conditional on having an available point in the correct job pool and meeting the current client’s prerequisites; it does not mean every skill is immediately unlocked.

The order is an editorial starting plan, not a tested optimal level-by-level build. Check ranks, costs and the live skill window before each permanent allocation.

| Priority | Suggested allocation | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Weapon line | Put the first available point in the mastery matching your weapon | Do not split investment between sword and axe without a plan. |
| Core route | Develop matching mastery; take Rush when available | Improve your weapon loop and movement between packs. |
| Party option | Add Rage when unlocked and useful to your party | Compare its benefit with existing buffs. |

## First-week route: early to mid game

These are progression stages, not a promise that every player reaches a given level within one week. Use the first-week and leveling guides for route and session-planning details.

| Stage | What to do | Check before moving on |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Levels 1–10 | Finish the beginner route and travel to your branch instructor. | Check the current advancement requirements in the client. |
| Levels 10–29 | Use the Warrior foundation; try single targets and compact groups. | Compare nearby fields with mushroom or boar routes and, if eligible, KPQ from level 21. |
| Levels 30–39 | After level 30, choose a weapon line and compare pack uptime with and without Rush. | Read the second-job guide and recheck the skill prerequisites. |
| Levels 40–70 | Retest a familiar Victoria Island route against tougher local targets as your skills improve. | Compare attacks per kill, travel and recovery over a full session before moving. |

- [MapleStory Quest: launch class roster](https://maplestory.quest/classes): Checked 23 October 2026. Community client-data reference separates ten launch second jobs from historical CoT2 third jobs; it does not provide our tier placements.

- [MapleStory Quest: Leveling planner](https://maplestory.quest/leveling): Game-file based monster and map reference. Its EXP/HP ranking is theoretical, not your observed EXP per hour.

- [Metaroad: KPQ walkthrough](https://metaroad.gg/maplestory-classic/party-quests/maplestory-classic-world-kerning-city-party-quest-kpq-guide): Updated October 21; explicitly distinguishes test changes. Four players, level 21+, thirty-minute run.

## Gear and spending checkpoints

| Checkpoint | Action | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Weapon | Match sword or axe to your mastery; reserve mesos for contact recovery. | Choose an obtainable upgrade that matches your actual skills. |
| Requirements | Check all stats, level and usable equipment bonuses on the target item. | A higher listed attack is irrelevant if you cannot equip it. |
| Session budget | Keep recovery and any ammunition or throwing stars for a full run. | Compare session cost and uptime, not an unverified market price. |

## Session checklist

- [ ] Confirm the current client and second-job availability.

- [ ] Check the next affordable weapon and its requirements.

- [ ] Read live prerequisites before assigning SP.

- [ ] Keep a recovery and resupply reserve.

- [ ] Record one ordinary session before a major purchase.
